Max Sandvoss is a local artisanal cheesemaker and dairy goat herdsman from East Bethany, NY.  Max and his brother, Trystan, founded First Light Farm & Creamery in 2010 after years of apprenticing for artisanal creameries in the Pacific Northwest. First Light produces a wide array of cow’s milk and goat’s milk dairy products, from cream-top milk to aged cheeses. Their artisanal products are distributed 100% locally through local farmers’ markets, cooperative grocery markets, bakeries, fine restaurants, and CSAs. They also offer cheese making courses at their Creamery! Bountiful Bowls marks the first collaboration between First Light and Cuisine Culture. We hope there are many more!

The Murray family has years of experience in making some of the nation’s highest quality milk from some of the world’s most well-known Registered Holsteins. And this experience has not gone unnoticed, as this Finger Lakes dairy has received the “Dairy of Distinction” award; the “Super Milk” award for 17 years, and the Progressive Breeders Herd designation. Generations of Muranda Registered Holsteins have been bred and cared for by the Murray family to score high on the conformation charts and also high in their quality of milk.  The Muranda Cheese House was created by the Murrays so that you could enjoy the goodness of quality milk in a product you can’t find in retail stores. Tom Murray and his expert cheese maker have carefully chosen introductory flavors that will age and become more flavorful with time.

Squash Blossom Farm, Groveland, 520-203-1985

Squash Blossom farm is located in Groveland on a sunny southern slope overlooking the Genesee valley.  Farmers Jeremia Pacheco and Jamie Carestio are organically farming 4 acres of market vegetables and sell at the Rochester Public Market, the Good Food Collective, and a number of the area’s top restaurants.  They hope to expand their use of Biodynamic techniques and collaboration with other local food producers in the years to come.

The Dali Java is a small coffee roasting company committed to providing a unique globally-minded product. The owners, Scott and Andrea Taylor, have integrated years of experience in the culinary and alternative health industry with the creation of The Dali Java. Scott, the roast master, is a retired chef while Andrea is a practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Visit their coffee shop in Canandaigua to taste their fair trade, organic beans!

Wild Side Ranch, 8675 Taft Road, Bloomfield, NY 14469, (585) 624-4603. Oliver Scott got into the business of raising bison  in the early 1970s. At one point the herd was 200 strong, but now the Oliver and Andrea Scott have about 95 head of bison. The bison are born on the 600-acre farm and feed entirely from pasture and hay. When it comes time to slaughter, the Scotts shoot the animals in the fields where they always lived so they don’t experience the fear of being transported to a slaughterhouse.

Sweet Grass Meats, Naples, NY

Leith MacKenzie and Sasha Ewing started the farm in 2006 with the purchase of 125 Katahdin ewes, and taking over management of a small herd of family cows.  They rent about 200 acres of permanent pasture outside of Naples NY.  Throughout the year the they rotate the animals around the pastures to encourage the maximum production of both the pasture, and our animals.  Every time the herd or flock grazes an portion of the farm they increase the soils fertility.

Lively Run Goat Dairy, Interlaken, NY

Lively Run Goat Dairy is one of the first commercial goat dairy operations in New York State, beginning production in 1982.  It is a family farm operated by Susanne and Steve Messmer and their sons Pete and Dave since 1995. Arbor Hill Winery, Naples, NY

Arbor Hill has long produced wines and gourmet foods having distinct flavors signifying the heritage of the region. They now make 21 different wines and 47 gourmet food products including the non-alcoholic and sparkling grape juice that will be featured at Cuisine Culture!  Check out this video about Arbor Hill’s balsamic vinegar.
