Scott Topel for Bountiful Bowls 2012! Scott grew up playing Led Zeppelin, Floyd, and The Beatles  on a Les Paul before selling all his electric equipment for an acoustic guitar and a plane ticket to Scotland. Since then he has been immersed in traditional tunes from around the world, while writing an ever-expanding repertoire of his own material. Graduating with honors in classical guitar in Santa Cruz, CA, and later studying with John Stropes in Milwaukee he found a technique to serve the music on the steel string guitar. His influences including Leo Kottke and Kelly Joe phelps demonstrate how this American Fingerstyle music is an art form with roots as deep as jazz in our musical landscape. Scott had preformed in Scotland & India, a sold out show at the UC Santa Cruz Recital Hall, and in clubs and music venues up and down the west coast. He recently returned to his birthplace, The Finger Lakes, and is playing solo and with the band Axis Armada. Cuisine Culture welcomes Scott back home and to Cuisine Culture!  Listen to Scott here.    And here.

The Prickers, Naples. The Prickers are an eclectic ensemble that plays foot-stompin’, whiskey-soaked, original music. The Prickers sound is best described as a musical collision of olde-time, folk, blues, punk and rock ‘n’roll. The Prickers have created a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshing. Defying convention, the band’s members alternate duties on drums, bass, guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, tabla, and…toy accordian; creating a musical collage of personalities and sounds that is truly their own. The muzik bounces, pounds, plucks, and crashes with raw emotion, while maintaining a constant plight-of-the-working-man message inspired by everyday life.

Meyer & McGuire, Canandaigua. Whether their presence is unobtrusive or conspicuous, Meyer & McGuire generate a great deal of energy in their shows. While some of their songs invite listening, most of them encourage audience participation…Those who attend a Meyer & McGuire performance will often find themselves singing and clapping along to the sounds of classic folk, country, rock, bluegrass, blues, Irish, Caribbean, and original tunes… Their performance will generate an unpretentious warmth that will open the heart and soul.
